Extending and receiving mercy is the prerequisite for love. Mercy brings peace with God, others, and ourselves. Often, our struggles with people reveal unresolved issues in our relationship with God. When we withhold mercy, we block the peace God wants us to experience. Mercy also changes our relationships. No one enjoys being around a grudge holder, but a mercy giver changes the atmosphere wherever they go. Most importantly, mercy reflects the character of Christ. Others need to see the mercy we've received from God. When we extend mercy, we display His grace.
